Professional experience:
Jan Jensen's practice emphasizes all aspects of complex commercial, intellectual property, media and entertainment and First Amendment litigation and counseling. Her intellectual property practice concentrates in trademark, copyright, trade secret, licensing, rights of publicity and privacy, unfair competition, idea submission, cybersquatting and related areas. She has significant experience litigating complex business disputes, including bench and jury trials, for a wide variety of business industries, including media, entertainment, publishing, technology, Internet services, consumer products, real estate and restaurant and hospitality services. Ms. Jensen has also defended clients in commercial class actions in state and federal courts and represented clients in internal investigations. In addition, she devotes a substantial portion of her practice to media and entertainment law and has successfully represented numerous industry clients, including motion picture studios, motion picture and television production companies, legitimate theater production companies, major and independent record labels, and prominent individuals, including, musicians, writers, producers and other talent.
Ms. Jensen practiced a number of years with Latham & Watkins and Christensen, Glaser before joining Keats McFarland & Wilson. She earned her law degree from the University of Southern California in 1987, graduating as a member of Order of the Coif and an editor of the Southern California Law Review. Before entering law school, she earned a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating with a 3.844 G.P.A., and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lincoln Christian College, graduating summa cum laude.
