Wendy C. Freedman is Of Counsel to Keats McFarland & Wilson LLP. Wendy concentrates her practice in intellectual property law, Internet law, new media law and entertainment law, with the majority of her experience in trademark enforcement, litigation and licensing.

Wendy brings her mega-firm experience and knowledge of the most important intellectual property issues to bear. Wendy has assisted Fortune 500 corporations, sports organizations, entertainment companies, consumer products companies, and artists, among others, in all areas of trademark work, including international trademark portfolio management and counseling, contested United States Patent and Trademark Office proceedings, licensing; and extensive federal court litigation of trademark infringement, dilution and breach of license agreement cases. She has resolved counterfeiting, patent and copyright claims against e-commerce websites and has successfully litigated cutting-edge cases involving the enforcement of privacy and publicity rights.

Wendy’s articles have been published in leading industry publications. She is the author of “Virtual Speech: At the Constitutional Crossroads,” 21 Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal 4, May 2005; and “Open-Source Movement Vies with Classic IP Model,” The National Law Journal, March 13, 2000, at B14-15.

Admitted to the California State Bar and the United States Supreme Court Bar, Wendy is active in the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She has held a variety of positions for the Beverly Hills Bar Association, including the President of the Barristers Board of Governors (2006-2007), Chair of the Community Outreach Committee, and Chair of Justice 2005. She also received the Lawrence J. Blake Award as Barrister of the Year in September 2004.

In 2006, Los Angeles Magazine named Wendy as a “Super Lawyers Rising Star” ranking her in the top 2.5 percent of Southern California lawyers age 40 or younger.

Wendy earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997. Wendy holds a B.A in Philosophy and Law and Society from the University of California Santa Barbara where she graduated with honors in 1992.
